Cameron Tilley and the AnglomOil Valiant Pacer continue to lead the Pro Am class of the Touring Car Masters following the Townsville round.
This was the first time TCM had driven on the tight street circuit.
Cameron began the round with lap times in the practice sessions which were just 2 seconds behind the fastest car in the field – former Supercars driver Steve Johnson in the Ford Mustang.
In qualifying Cameron clocked his personal best of 1 minute 23 seconds. Pole position was 1:20 which shows how close he got the 6-cylinder four door sedan to his V8 coupe counterparts.
In the first race the AnglomOil Pacer overtook two cars in the narrow space to claim 8th and in race 2 it moved all the way up to 5th place.
The Pacer – relying on AnglomOil products which are so reliable they can be used in performance and road going vehicles not just on the track – picked up 101 points meaning Cameron continues to lead his class and is 5th outright in the entire series. He is only 18 points behind the 4th placed Torana A9X.
The next round is at Sandown in Melbourne.
