AnglomOil Comes 2nd In Powerboat Championship

The Formula 3 powerboat of Brock Cohen has finished a close second in the Australian Powerboat Grand Prix championship.

Brock was in sight of winning the national series as he arrived at Lake Mulwala on the NSW-Victoria border this weekend. In qualifying he secured position 2 on the starting grid however for the first time in three years of competing he fell victim to a bizarre technical fault. As he lined up for the start of the race the starter motor disconnected itself from the outboard motor and he was unable to start. Brock has never missed the start of a race before.

Putting that crisis behind him, the young Newcastle powerboat pilot lined up in position 5 on the start line for race two. This is the unfavoured spot on the “slow” section of the water. Brock quickly overtook all of the other boats and went on to win that race. A remarkable effort.

In the deciding race which would determine who would take out the 2018 title, Brock started from third on the grid. Over the eight laps he got closer and closer to the lead boat. When they crossed the finish line Brock was less than a second behind the winner…but that slender gap was enough to keep him as runner-up.

AnglomOil congratulates our young racer on his magnificent season. We look forward to many more successes in the future.
