Three Tilley’s – History In The Making

AnglomOil protected race cars have put on a brilliant show at the first race of the Clipsal500 in Adelaide.

Their domination began in the practice session around the narrow street circuit. Amazingly, the six-cylinder Valiant Pacer of Cameron Tilley set the 5th quickest lap time of 1:30:75. Just two seconds behind the pace setter in a big V8.

Brad Tilley was 10th fastest in his Falcon GTHO and his son Jamie was 14th quickest out of 22 teams in his Clipsal500 debut in the Mustang.

Qualifying saw similar outcomes.

The first race of the round, the 10 lap Trophy Race, saw Brad leap into the lead. He stayed out in front for most of the race and it was only on the last lap that the green “Hoey” was shuffled back to 4th place. Cameron, who really enjoys street circuits, completed yet another of his giant-killing feats by crossing the line in 7th place just four seconds behind the winner, and young Jamie impressed with a fine 8th place.

This was an historic occasion for AnglomOil…the first time that three cars using our proudcts have raced in the same Touring Car Masters event. Between now and Sunday are another three races.
