At the first round of the Touring Car Masters championship an AnglomOil backed car has already won a podium finish.
And, it wasn’t the Falcon GTHO or Mustang with their V8 engines. It was Cameron Tilley in the 6-cylinder Valiant Pacer! An outstanding result!
In race 4 Cameron crossed the line just 2 seconds behind the race winner John Bowe in his Torana SLR and a Mustang. The AnglomOil Pacer’s best lap time of 1:30:5 around the tight, windy Adelaide street circuit was only 1.2 seconds slower than Bowe.
Cameron says the street circuits are a good equaliser because unlike traditional racing circuits they don’t have big horsepower long straights which favour the 8-cylinder engines.
Cameron’s tally for the week was 7th, 6th, 4th and 3rd!
His 4th place in race 3 was a microscopic 0.04 seconds outside capturing another podium result. He was right up against the back bumper of a Trans Am Mustang and unable to overtake.
Brad Tilley in the bright green AnglomOil GTHO also had a strong weekend finishing 4th, 7th, 6th and 5th.
In the final race Brad was only 2 seconds behind the blue Pacer and his quickest lap time was less than a second behind Bowe. Which goes to show how close TCM racing is. In the third race Brad crossed the finish line 0.8 seconds behind the Pacer.
Brad’s son Jamie had an amazing ‘baptism of fire’. The TCM rookie outdrove more than half of the field of seasoned drivers! He scored 8th, 9th and 14th.
AnglomOil congratulates the Tilley Trio on their outstanding performances which are a testament to the protection that our RASYN lubricants provide to their high-revving race engines.
